BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) and power batteries, officially announced its entry into the Iraqi market through a strategic partnership with NAT, marking a significant milestone in BYD’s expansion across the Middle East.

Ahead of the official brand launch event, BYD inaugurated its Iraq showroom in Baghdad, which immediately drew strong public interest. On its first day of opening, the showroom welcomed over 2,000 visitors, highlighting growing enthusiasm among Iraqi consumers for new energy technologies and BYD’s innovative product lineup.

The official launch event, held on December 14 in Baghdad, formally introduced the BYD brand to the Iraqi market and marked the local debut of the BYD SHARK 6. The event welcomed more than 300 guests, including government representatives, media, partners, and industry stakeholders.
AD Huang, General Manager of BYD Middle East and Africa, stated: “The official launch of BYD in Iraq is a cornerstone of our regional strategy. Iraq is a market with strong potential, and we are committed to bringing advanced new energy technologies, diversified product offerings, and long-term value to local consumers.”

With the introduction of BYD SHARK 6, BYD now offers a total of eight models in the Iraqi market, comprising four plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and four pure electric vehicles (EVs). This diverse portfolio provides Iraqi consumers with a wide range of choices, addressing different mobility needs and usage scenarios.
In addition to product offerings, BYD is committed to building a comprehensive ownership ecosystem in Iraq. After-sales service centers are scheduled to open soon, providing professional maintenance, technical support, and customer service to ensure a holistic and reliable ownership experience.
To date, BYD has established a growing presence across the Middle East and Africa, continuing to expand its footprint while supporting the region’s transition toward cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable mobility.
